Hope in Magadi: How a New Clinic is Transforming Healthcare Access

Updated: Oct 7

Between June and August 2025, the CFF Clinic in Oloibortoto, Magadi reached a major milestone—transitioning from a mobile unit to a permanent health facility. This change is already reshaping healthcare for families who once traveled long distances for even the most basic services.

In just three months, 96 patients received care at the clinic. August alone saw the highest attendance yet, reflecting the growing trust and awareness in the community. With the installation of solar power, the clinic can now refrigerate vital medications, run essential devices like a fetal Doppler, and provide emergency services even at night.

One powerful story stands out: when a patient arrived with dangerously high blood sugar late at night, the nurse was able to provide immediate care. A relative later said, “Now I understand the difference between a chemist and a clinic.” Families who once relied on buying medicine without guidance are beginning to embrace consistent, professional healthcare.

Another exciting step forward came through the generosity of Steve Lull from Whitefish, Montana, whose donation funded the purchase of a new motorbike. This vehicle will serve as our first Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transport, allowing patients in urgent need to be brought safely to the clinic for timely care. For a community with no prior access to emergency response, this is a game-changer.

Government accreditation is underway, paving the way for services under the Social Health Insurance program and future partnerships in immunizations. Community outreach through schools and churches continues to expand awareness and increase patient visits.

Challenges remain—malaria, lack of maternity and emergency services, and limited equipment—but with continued support, the CFF Clinic is becoming a true pillar of health in Magadi. Every solar panel, every stocked medication, and every consultation moves us closer to lasting change.

Together, we can ensure that mothers deliver safely, children receive timely vaccinations, emergencies are met with life-saving care, and every family has access to dignity and hope. Join us in strengthening healthcare access in Magadi.
