Not long ago, accessing healthcare in this region of Kenya required a journey.
For many families, that journey stretched nearly 40 kilometers—over rough terrain, often without reliable transportation, and sometimes in the middle of an emergency. Care wasn’t just distant; it was uncertain.
For years, a mobile clinic attempted to bridge that gap. It moved from village to village—Torosei, Ilmotiok, Enkisukudo, Kilonito, Singiraine—bringing care as consistently as it could. But the reality was hard: vehicles broke down, staffing was inconsistent, and entire days of care could disappear without warning.
It became clear that something more permanent was needed.
Then, in April 2024, floods destroyed the only nearby health facility. Suddenly, the gap in care wasn’t just inconvenient—it was urgent. That moment became the turning point.
A Clinic Built for Consistency
The decision to establish a fixed clinic in Magadi wasn’t just strategic—it was necessary.
By May 2025, the CFF Rotary Clinic opened its doors. What followed was not slow, cautious growth. It was steady, determined progress—each step building toward something reliable.
Solar panels were installed, bringing light to the clinic long after sunset and allowing care to continue into the night. Refrigeration made it possible to safely store medications. A laboratory came online, giving providers the ability to diagnose instead of guess. Security structures were added. Water systems were built. A motorbike was purchased—not as a convenience, but as a lifeline for patients who otherwise had no way to travel.
In those first seven months, 388 patients walked through the clinic doors.
But something else was happening—something less visible than infrastructure.
People were beginning to trust that the clinic would be there when they needed it.
The Moment Everything Accelerated
If 2025 was about building something dependable, the beginning of 2026 has been about watching that trust take root—and grow quickly.
In just January and February, the clinic saw 192 patients, a 60% increase from the previous reporting period.
And the growth didn’t plateau—it accelerated.
February alone saw 115 patients, a 49% increase over January.
This kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when a community begins to believe: this place will help me.
The Stories Behind the Numbers
Each number in that report represents a person—someone who might otherwise have gone without care.
A mother bringing her child in for treatment, unsure what was causing the fever.A man walking in with a wound that needed attention before it became life-threatening.A young woman seeking antenatal care for the first time.
The most common conditions treated in the beginning of 2026—malaria, brucellosis, respiratory infections—can become dangerous without access to care.
And increasingly, people are choosing to come early, before conditions worsen. That shift alone changes outcomes.
Meeting Needs as They Emerge
Some of the most important developments at the clinic didn’t come from a strategic plan—they came from patients themselves.
Early on, a pregnant young girl arrived asking a simple question:
“Will I be able to deliver here?”
At the time, the clinic wasn’t fully equipped for maternity services.
But that question—and others like it—made the need impossible to ignore.
Today, the maternity ward has been renovated, equipped, and is preparing to fully serve mothers in the community. This is how the clinic is growing—not just by design, but by listening.
Care Beyond the Clinic Walls
In the past two months, staff have stepped into the community—visiting a local special needs school, assessing health risks, and offering care to children who might otherwise be overlooked.
They’ve transported patients on motorbikes when no other option existed.
They’ve counseled young mothers. They’ve responded to emergencies in the middle of the night—made possible because the lights stayed on. This is what access looks like in real life. It’s not just services—it’s presence.
Looking Ahead
As the clinic continues to grow, so do the needs. Plans are underway to begin immunization services, expand maternal care, and introduce additional services like ultrasound. At the same time, the team remains focused on strengthening day-to-day operations and continuing community health education.
Because of You
This progress is possible because of the people who have supported this work from the beginning. What started as a response to a gap in care has quickly become a reliable resource for the community—and it’s continuing to grow in both reach and impact.
